Katherine Aud - Resource Teacher

Katherine Aud was born and raised in mid-city San Diego.  She attended elementary, middle, and high schools in the San Diego Unified School District graduating 12th grade from Patrick Henry High School. 

 

She began her career in education in 1995 in the San Diego Unified School District.  She has held various positions including: Classroom Teacher (6; TK/K), English Learner Support Teacher (ELST), In-School Resource/ Staff Developer, Family and Community Engagement Resource Teacher, Youth Advocacy Project Resource Teacher; Integrated Youth Services Resource Teacher; & Instructional Coordinator.  She currently works as a Central Office Resource Teacher in the Restorative Justice Practices Department.   Miss Aud earned an Associates of Science Degree in Child Development from San Diego City College in 1999.  She continued her education at San Diego State University receiving a B.A. in Liberal Studies specializing in Chicano Studies in 2002; a Multiple Subject Teaching Credential in 2003; a M.A. in Reading Education in 2010; a Reading Specialist Credential in 2010.

 

During her career, she has received several nominations and awards for her work in education and the greater community.  She was nominated Outstanding Graduate Student for the SDSU School of Teacher Education Literacy Department in May 2010.  She received the Leadership in Biliteracy Award from the San Diego County Office of Education in May of 2015 for her contributions to the San Diego Unified School District's Dual Language Network.  She was honored by a former student through Target's #ThanksABillion campaign with her elementary school receiving a $10,000 award. Through her work with the community, she was named “2018 Civilian of the Year” by the San Diego Unified School Police Services Department. Most recently in 2019, she was honored with the Beatty Peabody Award at the San Diego County Crime Stoppers Enough is Enough Luncheon.     

She has a loving family, husband Alex and daughter Alyx, and resides in mid-city San Diego.  Her daughter attended high school in the San Diego Unified School District graduating in June 2023.  She currently attends Cal State Long Beach.
