Tuition Reimbursement

Employees may be eligible to be reimbursed for the cost of tuition, books, and other mandatory fees incurred while completing coursework or training during non-working hours, pursuant to their collective bargaining agreement.

To qualify for reimbursement, an employee must successfully complete coursework or training designed to improve current job knowledge and skills, to prepare for promotion, or to obtain new job skills that are of benefit to the District.

The maximum amount that can be claimed varies by bargaining unit. Traveling expenses, parking fees, non-mandatory student body fees, school supplies and other incidental costs cannot be reimbursed. Approval from the bargaining unit should be obtained before any expense is incurred by the employee.

An employee who terminates employment from the District within 12 months of receiving tuition reimbursement must refund the amount of the reimbursement to the District or it will be deducted from the final pay warrant.

For more information, refer to the Tuition Reimbursement Article of the relevant bargaining unit's contract.
