UTK Pre-Enrollment for School Year 2023-2024

The Universal Transitional Kindergarten (UTK) “Pre-Enrollment Priority Window” is February 1, 2023 – February 28, 2023.  The pre-enrollment form will be available here beginning February 1, 2023.

 

ELIGIBILITY

 

PRIORITIES

  • Students born between September 2, 2018 and September 1, 2019
  • San Diego Unified resident students

NoteStudents must be 4 years old by September 1, 2023 to be eligible for UTK.

PARENT WORKSHOPS

  • Birth Certificate
  • Proof of Residence
  • Up-to-Date Immunization
  • IEP (if applicable)
  • Must be fully potty-trained to attend UTK. Please review the Potty-Training Resource Guide.

Universal Transitional Kindergarten (UTK) is offered at all San Diego Unified School District (SDUSD) Elementary and K-8 schools with the exception of Language Academy, Logan Memorial Education Campus, Mt Everest and Virtual Academy.

UNIVERSAL TRANSITIONAL KINDERGARTEN (UTK)

Universal Transitional Kindergarten is a new grade level preceding Kindergarten and it is open to all pupils turning 4 by September 1.  Parents may contact their neighborhood school directly to inquire about space availability at their resident school for 2022-2023 UTK enrollment. If space is not available, please contact Neighborhood Schools and Enrollment Options (NSEO) at 619-260-2410 to find a seat at the nearest school site with space availability. 

 

Notes:

  • The District also offers a Part-Day Early Learning Program at 17 school sites and an Extended-Day Early Learning Program at Central Elementary for 3 and 4-year old children for qualifying families.
  • Children who turn 5 years old on or by September 1 are age-eligible for Kindergarten and will not be enrolled in UTK.
